Kathie Kratochvil has dedicated the last 30 years of her life to helping both children and adults access their creative and imaginative potential through theatre.   The combination of her work as both a performing arts educator and a performing artist/theatre director has led her to strongly believe and experience first hand the power of art to change lives. 

  • Kathie has been the Regional Director of The Bay Area California Arts Project ( www.tcap.net ) at San Jose State University since 1999, and has worked with The California Arts Project since 1995 as a Statewide Leadership Fellow.

  • She is also a Lecturer in the Television, Radio, Film and Theatre Department at San Jose State University ( www.tvradiofilmtheatre.com ) where she teaches Acting, Theatre Appreciation, Children’s Theatre and Writing for the Arts courses. She has taught Theatre Arts to over 12,000 students, grades K-University during her career.

  • Kathie has been working in the performing arts community for the last twenty-five years in a variety of capacities including actor, director, and playwright for stage, television, and radio. She was one of the founders of Mountain Community Theatre in 1982, ( www.mctshows.org ) and has continued working with that company for the last 24 years as an actor, director, producer, playwright, and lighting designer. Please click on the Projects/Productions links to the left for information on her latest theatre arts projects.  She holds a B.A. in Creative Arts/Theatre, and an M.A. in Theatre.  She is currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership.
